Cooking Class Amsterdam: Pasta Making Experience by Pasta Class Florence

After the incredible success of our Dublin tour, Pasta Class Florence traveled to the historic canals and vibrant streets of Amsterdam! Our mission remained the same: to transport the authentic flavors and nonna-approved techniques of Italy to our friends in the Netherlands.

Tools and ingredients for making handmade pasta

This special Pop-Up was made possible through a wonderful collaboration with Taalhuis Amsterdam, a renowned language school dedicated to the Italian language and culture.

Language, Culture, and the Perfect Dough

At Taalhuis Amsterdam, they believe that learning a language goes far beyond textbooksโ€”itโ€™s about experiencing the culture, the people, and, most importantly, the food. Partnering with them was a natural fit. We hosted our classes in their fantastic shared kitchen space, a hub of creativity where the passion for all things Italian was palpable from the moment we started kneading.

The kitchen was the perfect stage for our Michelin-trained chefs to share their secrets. The atmosphere was intimate, warm, and filled with the musical sounds of Italian conversation, making it feel like a true casa italiana in the heart of Amsterdam.

A Hands-On Tuscan Journey

With only 10 guests per session, every participant received personalized attention as they mastered the tactile art of fresh pasta. Using fresh ingredients imported directly from Tuscany, we ensured that every bite tasted exactly as it would in a Florentine trattoria.

Our Amsterdam students learned to hand-craft three iconic shapes:

  • Tortelli: Masterful stuffed pasta with the perfect seal.
  • Tagliatelle: Classic, golden ribbons made from scratch.
  • Fettuccine: Elegant, wide strands that pair perfectly with our sauces.

While the flour flew and the pasta took shape, the Tuscan wine flowed unlimitedly, keeping the energy high and the smiles wide. We didn’t stop at the pasta; guests also learned the secrets to traditional Italian sauces, including our rich, slow-cooked Ragรน and velvet-smooth creamy classics.

The Full Experience

The highlight of the day was sitting down together for a full meal featuring all three authentic pasta dishes. There is something magical about eating a meal you created with your own hands, paired with great wine and even better company.

To ensure our guests could bring a piece of Italy home with them, everyone received:

  • A Special Pasta Class Apron as a commemorative gift.
  • Exclusive recipes delivered straight to their inbox to keep the tradition alive.

Grazie, Amsterdam!

Our Amsterdam Pop-Up was a resounding success, and we are so grateful to Taalhuis Amsterdam and everyone who joined us for making it so unforgettable. Your enthusiasm for Italian culture and your skills in the kitchen truly impressed us!

We were so glad to host you, and we hope the skills you learned bring a little more dolce vita to your home cooking. We canโ€™t wait to see you againโ€”either back in Amsterdam or at our home in Florence!
